COMPARED to sales in 2014, the Brazilian confectionery industry grew by 305% in closed deals at Sweets & Snacks Middle East this year, according to ABICAB, the Brazilian Association of Cacao, Chocolates, Candies and Byproducts Industry. The industry achieved US$420,000 in 2014 against $1,700,000 this year.

This is only the third time Brazil has joined the region’s leading event for chocolate, confectionery, and snacks foods, which took place from October 27 and 29 in Dubai. Through the Sweet Brazil project, nine exporting companies, namely Docile, Dori, Jazam, Montevérgine, Peccin, Riclan, Simas, Toffano and Garoto showcased their products and launched dozens including filled hard candy, soft candy, assorted candy of different shapes and flavors, and chocolates.
These products are mainly absorbed by markets in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Iran, Palestine, Kenya, Somalia, South Africa, Jordan, Algeria, Liberia, Mauritius, Kuwait and Kazakhstan.
