Record-setting ProPak China

CHINA’S premier trade exhibition for packaging and processing technologies, ProPak China and China BevTek 2013, ended on a high note on 19 July at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEX. The three-day event attracted 17,951 trade visitors (vs.17,533 in 2012) from the food, beverage, dairy, confectionery and snack food, daily chemical industry, pharmaceutical, FMCG, electronics and industrial products.

Pavilions organized by Italian and French trade groups joined those Germany, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, UK and USA, which have long supported ProPak China. While the number of new exhibitors was down to 633 (vs.657 in 2012), they represented a record-setting 26 regions and countries (vs. 22 in 2012).

Compared to last year, the number of trade buyers from outside Shanghai rose to 7,700 (+1,634 from 2012), to account for 43% of total number of visitors. Also making this a calendar year for the twin events organized by the China International Exhibitions Ltd was the unprecedented number of home-grown exhibitors, which accounted for 65% of the total number and indicates the growing strength of the domestic processing and packaging industries.
