CONSUMER health care innovator BioHarvest packs the healthy benefits of red wine in its new product, VINIA™ Red Grape Powder.
VINIA is a direct compound of red grape, which means its polyphenols are in their natural state. The product is also free of sugar, alcohol, preservatives, and artificial colouring and flavours.
The Israel-based company emphasises that VINIA is not a dietary supplement, but a biofood (a sub-category of superfoods). A daily dose is said to help dilate blood vessels to promote blood circulation and keep blood pressure within normal range. One serving, added to any food and drink, harnesses 40mg of a complex bouquet of polyhpenols. Within this bouquet, VINIA™ contains 5mg of resveratrol similar to the amount found in 1,000 red grapes or one bottle of fine red wine. Resveratrol is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream since it is found as a glycoside.
The non-GMO product comes from grapes grown by hydroponics and without the use of pesticides.
"While we did not discover the benefits of red wine, we did discover a brand new way, using science to accelerate nature's goodness, to bring those benefits to consumers,” said Zaki Rakib, BioHarvest executive chairman and co-founder.
