Interested visitors at DRUPA, the world’s most important trade show for the printing, paper and converting industries, travelled from Dusseldorf to attend the open house of Reifenhauser Kiefel Extrusion at the company's state-of-the-art technology center in Troisdorf on two special dates to see the latest technology in blown film extrusion. About 140 visitors from over 20 countries were introduced to the world of complex plastic film technology, and they were impressed by the flexibility of the blown film lines of the new Evolution generation of blown film technology.
DRUPA has long since grown beyond its name. It is not only the leading forum for the printing industry, but covers all publishing technologies and processes in a worldwide context related to the flexible packaging industry as well. The show attracted about 350,000 visitors, many of them from the plastics and packaging industries. The versatility of plastic materials has an essential influence on packaging technologies and the numerous advantages they offer are of great importance not only for the visual appearance of food packaging for example, but they are also indicative of the quality of its content.
In this respect, multi-layer films fulfil many tasks such as: fresh preservation of products, UV protection, durability, tear strength and many other demands of the flexible packaging industry. Therefore, the focus of many exhibitors at DRUPA was on printed packaging films that meet consumer needs for impressive graphics as well as extended shelf life which are increasingly in demand.
Viewing the Evolution at work
On May 7 and 14, selected trade visitors from a wide variety of countries around the world had the opportunity to view in person the production of multi-layer films on Reifenhauser Kiefel machines in the Troisdorf technology center. During the open house events, the experts were able to observe the production of high-quality film on the EVOLUTION blown film lines under real production conditions.
The market leading and technology leading Evolution Ultra Cool high-performance cooling system presented as a highlight, demonstrated the greatest possible flexibility and optimum operability in addition to very high output rates.
The visitors were impressed by the combination of high quality film, functionality, ideal printability and flexible conversion capabilities as well as operator ease. In intensive discussions with the experts of Reifenhauser Kiefel Extrusion visitors were explained the many innovations of the new Evolution lines.
Ulrich Reifenhauser welcomed the visitors and expressed his pleasure regarding the great acceptance shown by the film and packaging experts from the printing industry in the following discussions. "For us, DRUPA is an indirect trade show, however many of our customers and prospects attend the show because the decisive criteria required for plastic films are also defined there. The demand for high-quality film products is growing in all directions - and we have the right system technology available setting the standards for the future",according to Mr. Reifenhauser.
Interdisciplinary trade shows like DRUPA clearly show the further acceleration of cycles of technological leaps in the future. In addition to direct exhibiting activities at many international exhibitions the companies of the Reifenhauser group increasingly consider it their task to use the opportunities at trade shows covering different industries as communication forum for our development efforts. A look at the trade-fair calendar shows that the plastics industry is already looking forward to "K 2013" in Düsseldorf. The experience gained at DRUPA and the parallel in-house exhibition are important tools to pointing the way towards the necessary activities in preparing forHighsnobiety Style
