Resealable closure appeals to senses

Zip-Pak takes steps toward trend in interactive packaging

RESEALABLE closure company, Zip-Pak offers Sensus, a sealing feature that provides audial and tactile feedback to assure customers that their package has been firmly sealed. This product is the first in a family of resealable closures which are designed to appeal to consumers’ senses of smell, sight and touch. The rationale behind Sensus came from feedback from focus groups who said they wanted clearer indicators that flexible packaging is sealed.

The Sensus re-closure profile is also designed to create a tactile bumping sensation and audible clicking noise when the zipper is opened or sealed. Made of low density polyethylene (LDPE), Sensus can be applied to any type of flexible packaging of any pouch size.

The Sensory Feedback Fasteners, which are currently under development, work with fragrance as an indicator of complete resealing. These closures are designed to emit an aroma upon initial and subsequent opening of a package, such as floral, lemon, etc.
