Reusable mask a big hit

IRNA: What are the unique features of the Totobobo mask? Li

: Launched last February, Totobobo is the first customisable mask in the world. The mask is made of Totosoft, which makes it very flexible and comfortable to the skin. Weighing only 20 grams, the Totobobo mask is by far the lightest reusable respirator available. The super elastic strap of Totobobo mask is the most flexible and comfortable. More important, the mask contains anti-virus agents eliminating the spread of virus or bacteria on the surface of the mask.

IRNA: There is now a strong demand for Totobobo mask, what are your key markets now? Li

: Strong demand for the Totobobo mask came from regular travelers in polluted cities and users with allergic rhinitis who want to avoid hay fever or other airborne allergens, as well as specialist users like cyclists and motorcyclists, woodworkers, artists and artisans, and parents concerned with their children抯 health.

IRNA: Please describe briefly how the mask was developed. Li

: The mask was originally designed for protection of children from airborne pathogens during SARS in 2003. The challenge was to develop a mask that is able to be effective and fitting the wide range of faces sizes from a few years old to teenager. Comfort is another key concern, it is impossible to keep the mask on a child's face if it is very uncomfor table. Finally, we want to achieve an unobtrusive design such that imageconscious teenager would not feel too embarrassed wearing the mask in the public.

IRNA: What specific requirements of the market did you try to meet? Li

: Customers worldwide are drawn to the appealing high- tech features of the Totobobo mask. The highly efficient filters, capable of keeping out all but a tiny fraction of particles smaller than .5 microns, provide unparalleled protection and breathing freedom. Replacement filters cost less than $1, by far the most competitive replacement filter in the market. The Visual-Seal-Check ensures a good respiratory seal that cannot be matched by other masks. The mask has better breathability and users commented that there is more air flowing in through the Totobobo mask than others available in the market today. The mask is reusable so it can be used many times if kept with care. In normal usage condition there should not be any issue to reuse the mask for 50 or even over 100 times.

IRNA: How important is the plastic material to the product's overall functionality and quality? Li

: The property of the plastic material is crucial to the success of Totobobo mask. Our design intent is to achieve a "Second skin" sealing the mouth and nose and to provide a comfortable yet effective filtering system. The softness of the material has to be just right in order to do the job. Too hard and it won抰 follow the face contour and become uncomfortable. On the other hand, if it is too soft the mask will collapse under the tension of the strap.
