Revolution in tapping technology

WALTER has now filled the gap in the tool market process-reliable solid carbide tapping heads with the PROTOTYP PROTOTEX HSC. The tapping head is based on special solid carbide with high wear-resistance and high toughness. The application area covers steels and long-chipping materials with a tensile strength up to 1200 N/mm2. In addition to the solid carbide basic material, further features ensure cutting speeds and tool service lives which are much higher than those of HSS-E tapping heads: the special chamfer geometry also results in an ideal cutting load when machining long-chipping materials. A multilayer coating on a TiCN basis forms a resistant wear barrier. The special design of the oil grooves allows it to be used on machines with internal cooling.
