AS PART of its sustainability programme, global beverage can maker, Rexam, raises money for charity through its annual “Cans for Cash” recycling event held at its headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. The company has partnered with United Scrap Metal, a local recycler for this project, and is supported by Novelis, Tri-Arrows Aluminum Inc. and Wise Alloys.

The company reports that this year, the initiative has resulted in the collection of 3,500 pounds of aluminium cans that when recycled amounted to about $2,300. The proceeds will be donated to charities.
"This is a great opportunity for us to partner with our suppliers and focus on our common mission – increasing aluminium can recycling. Working together, we are able to spread the word on the sustainability of the beverage can and further strengthen our ties with our local communities, all while raising money for charity. This is another part of ongoing efforts to be the environmental leader in our industry," said Rich Grimley, president and CEO, Rexam Beverage Can North America.
