Interviewed at the RINGIER TRADE MEDIA booth, Mr. Michael Hay, gave his insights on CHINAPLAS 2014 and the many challenges that companies face to meet intense competition.
“With over 2,000 booths, this edition of CHINAPLAS is surely impressive because of the improvement in the quality of exhibits. I congratulate the show’s organisers, Adsale in this aspect. Also, there are many interesting features added this year, one of them is the bioplastic section (City of Tomorrow),” according to Mr. Hay.
He also noted the large number of foreign exhibitors at this year’s edition, especially new foreign exhibitors. “It is interesting to see many exhibitors from the Middle East as these companies try to break into the vast China market. We see over 2,000 exhibitors at the show but probably, 10,000 suppliers would have wanted to be here as they are all vying for the China market,” Mr. Hay observes.
Today’s challenge for many companies lies in the promotion of their products after the show. As Mr. Hay said, a company needs to really stand out from competitors and be able to promote its products beyond the traditional print advertisement. Now with the market becoming more complicated, more advanced promotional/marketing methods, like online promotion and being present and accessible on new gadgets such as smartphones, have become important communication options in sending across information about a company’s products and services.
