Indian state-run steelmaking and mining company Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), also known as Vizag Steel, has announced it achieved the first production from its new steel melt shop No. 2 on October 30, marking the completion of its 6.3 million mt per year capacity expansion.
Vizag Steel stated that its blast furnace No. 1 was halted on October 20 for capital repairs, after achieving 37.74 million mt of pig iron output in 23 years. The repairs will take 135 days and the modernisation of the furnace will enhance annual production by 500,000 mt of pig iron.
