Robust triple quadrupole mass spectrometer for food testing

US designer and manufacturer of precision instruments and equipment, Agilent Technologies Inc. has unveiled its most robust triple quadrupole mass spectrometer for life sciences, diagnostics, and applied chemistry.

The Agilent 6470 Triple Quadrupole LC/MS is highly recommended for use in food testing, environmental, pharmaceutical and clinical research. The latest model in the company’s range of mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography systems delivers attogram-level sensitivity and accurate quantitation with up to six orders of linear dynamic range.

The Agilent 6470 is equipped with various technologies to meet the quantitation demands in research, including workflows that rely on laborious sample preparation and complex matrices that may contribute to inconsistent results, according to Mr Yao. These are: built-in Jet Stream technology, which delivers 5x the sensitivity of traditional electrospray ionization; enhanced Q1 ion optics with optimized prefilter geometry, which increase ion transmission to reduce contamination; a tapered hexapole collision cell, enabling effective collection and transmission of fragment ions; an ion detector with a high-energy conversion dynode and low nose characteristics, promoting more efficient positive and negative ion detection and mass range; and powerful MassHunter data handling software, including triggered MRM, which helps increase analytical confidence.

Together with Agilent's exclusive iFunnel technology, the 6470 is applicable for high-efficiency ion generation and ion sampling. It also offers enhanced software tools easily manage samples, optimize methods, process data and share knowledge with colleagues.
