In the past 30 years, microfluidics technology has extended from the original microelectronic industry to a more diversified field, and medical is one of them. Today, COVID-19 test, allergen test kit, glucose meter, etc. are representative applications of this technology.

Of course, size is the key to microfluidics. As the components become smaller and smaller, the equipment can operate more efficiently and faster depending on the unique characteristics of a very small amount of liquid at a small scale. Having a "fluid channel thinner than hair" is the intuitive expression of the microfluidics panel. But this undoubtedly puts forward very high requirements for micro precision injection molding. "Mold design and process control of different materials are very critical." Scott Dickson, R&D manager of Rosti China, shared that "At present, Rosti China has mature experience in medical microfluidics panel injection manufacturing, and has successfully helped customers develop COVID-19 test and allergic test kits."

The medical grade liquid silicone massage head using 2K LSR liquid silicone molding technology is also a major highlight of Rosti booth at this exhibition. This process involves two independent and very important production processes: thermoplastic materials and liquid silicone materials are sprayed into the same mold in one cycle and formed within it. Medical grade liquid silicone injection molding poses great challenges for selection of material, machine and mold development, process settings. Our medical grade LSR massage head has antibacterial and skin cleaning functions," Scott added.

Thanks to better heat management, the Carbon M3 series printers have higher yield rate per square foot under limited heat conditions and produce smoother parts than previous generations. In addition, the next generation DLS (Digital Photosynthesis) printing can reduce the difference in parts up to 50% - which means that the overall accuracy difference of engineering resins is smaller and production repeatability is higher.
