RS Components debuts IdeaWerk 3D printer

RS Components (RS), the trading brand of global distributor for engineers Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), is offering the first RS brand 3D printer.

 

The RS IdeaWerk 3D printer complements the growing range of RS rapid-prototyping machines, which includes highly affordable 3D printers from 3D Systems, Ultimaker, BEEVERYCREATIVE, and RepRapPro. It targets a wide range of users, including electronics and mechanical engineers involved in design, prototyping, and R&D, and enthusiasts and users in the education field. Priced at HKD 9,345 (about USD 1,200), the RS IdeaWerk is approximately 30% less expensive than other 3D printers in its class.

 

The single-head printer adopts Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) technology and accepts 1.75mm-diameter PLA filament materials with many different colors. It features a build volume of 150x150x140mm and a minimum layer thickness resolution of 0.18mm. It works with Mac OS and Windows OSs, including XP, Vista, 7, and 8/8.1 with no additional software or accessories. It can be used in online or offline mode, with or without a PC with connectivity via an SD card or USB. 

 

Measuring 211(L)x403(W)x298mm(H) and weighing only 7.5kg, the RS IdeaWerk is lightweight and portable. Despite being easy to assemble and use, the product has a robust and sturdy construction and can handle the toughest print jobs.   

 

In addition, the RS IdeaWerk uses environmentally friendly PLA material and therefore does not release any toxicity, chemical pollution, or unpleasant smells. It has a very low print noise. All these make the product ideal for use in the home, office, classroom, and industrial setup.
