Rubber chemicals market seen to grow in Thailand

 

THE market for rubber chemicals in Thailand is projected to register annual growth of over 4% until 2020, according to the Thailand Rubber Chemicals Market Forecast and Opportunities 2020 report from Research and Markets. 

 

Thailand, the leading rubber-producing country worldwide, accounts for around one-third of the global rubber supply. Besides tires, rubber is also used for manufacturing gloves, conveyor belts, condoms, shoe soles, and various other consumer products. 

 

These manufacturing activities, in turn, create significant demand for rubber processing chemicals in the country, according to the Thailand Rubber Chemicals Market Forecast and Opportunities 2020 report.

 

Rubber procured in raw latex form requires chemical treatment to impart the required physical properties such as tensile strength, flexibility and durability, which are achieved by chemical processing of rubber through the use of fillers, plasticizers, activators, vulcanizers and accelerators.

 

Due to lack of domestic supply, Thailand is hugely dependent on rubber chemical imports from China, Japan and Germany. Rubber fillers particularly comprised demand for rubber chemicals in Thailand in 2014, and this trend is expected to continue through 2020.
