
New packaging responds to growing demand for the convenience of an easy-to-open meat pack without compromising the need for a safe seal
"Safety is of prime importance with fresh meat packaging. Our goal was to offer this and still create a package, which could be opened easily without requiring an aid," says Johannes Remmele, managing director of S黡pack. "Our new development, SafePeel TT, satisfies both requirements equally." Joint effort 'Consumer-friendly' means both convenience and product protection. The newly developed high-performance film-specially designed for tray sealer applications-offers a very safe seal, even if the seams become contaminated, which also satisfies the tough requirements for transport and handling. "The development was a real joint effort," explains Johann Gihr, head of Business Development Management Fresh Food at S黡pack. "The manufacturers Sealpac and ES-Plastic were also involved." The EasyPeelPoint System developed by Sealpac is revolutionising the opening of self-service packaging in the fresh meat segment. Combined with S黡pack's new development, SafePeel TT, and a special tray made by ES-Plastic, consumer-friendly, firmly sealed trays with a PP sealing medium can be opened intuitively and without a knife or scissors. At the same time, the new development is characterised by an easy-to-open, fibre-free and uniform peel. Designed to optimise the appearance of both the packaging and the food it contains, the film features an oxygen and aroma barrier and is PVDC-free. Other benefits include excellent flatness and anti-curl properties, as well as anti-fog for a clear view of the product.
