LEADING global auto-ID solutions provider Sato (TSE:6287) has recently acquired the general labeling business of Jenkins Labels Limited.
The acquisition, which covers primary labels, shrink sleeve labels, and wraparound labels, will enable Sato New Zealand (SNZ) to complement its existing capability in operational labeling, courier labeling, laboratory labeling, printers, barcode scanning, and traceability solutions with Jenkins' primary label business. Jenkins is a leader in primary label production operating in Auckland, New Zealand.
Backed by more than 40 years of operation, SNZ manages its labeling and traceability business from its headquarters in Auckland and offices in Christchurch and Dunedin. It has broadened its product portfolio with the acquisition of Checkpoint Meto and Walker Datavision. Many of New Zealand’s largest organizations form the bulk of its customer base.
According to Sato Holdings president and CEO Kaz Matsuyama, “We are constantly striving to reinforce our network of solution providers to bring customized labeling solutions to customers. This acquisition of a proven market leader boosts our network and lineup to improve our ability to deliver comprehensive labeling solutions to New Zealand customers.”
SNZ managing director Kerry Langley acknowledges Jenkins' achievements in the labeling business.
"Jenkins has been a front-runner in the labeling business in New Zealand for many years. Their commitment to innovation and delivering customer value has allowed them to solidify their position, particularly in beverage and food labeling solutions. We are extremely proud to welcome them into the SATO Group, and aim to continue delivering superior primary labels while leveraging our global network to open new opportunities for our customers,” Langley said.
SNZ has also established a strategic partnership with Jenkins' sister company, Jenkins Freshpak Systems, to expand services to horticulture customers to include printing and traceability solutions. Jenkins Freshpak, which will continue to operate independently, delivers industry-specific solutions to the horticulture market in New Zealand and Australia.
