SATO Group sets up new company to manage its overseas business activities

SATO, a global leader in barcode printing, labelling, and EPC/RFID solutions, has launched SATO International, a company that will handle all its overseas business activities. The new group will help raise earnings, improve group synergy, design and execute global strategy, and support sales activities and customer management.

President and CEO of SATO Holdings, Kaz Matsuyama will also head the new entity to allow central management of global business operations and ensure close cooperation between the headquarters and overseas group companies.

Yasuhiro Tanabe, who joined SATO in 2014, has been named vice president. His work experience includes nearly 20 years with Sony.

“Globalisation and maximisation of customer value are two core components of our long-term strategy,” Mr Matsuyama said. “SATO International will drive that strategy, expanding our market share and reach, allowing us to effectively provide customers with end-to-end Auto-ID and Data Capture solutions on a truly global scale.”

SATO has business presence in over 90 countries. In 2013, it generated JPY 28.3 billion in overseas sales, with nearly a third of entire revenue coming from international markets. Its goal is to attain 40% overseas sales ratio for 2020, and is confident it will achieve JPY 60 billion in revenue from markets in the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. In future, the company seeks to achieve a 70% overseas sales ratio as it expands into new regions and boost market share.
