Schaeffler SEA has become the first region globally to be able to conduct ISO Vibration Analyst Category II training to customers and staff.
This was made possible due to a special tie-up with the Mobius Institute of Australia. The institute is a worldwide provider of reliability improvement, condition monitoring and precision maintenance education to industrial plant managers, reliability engineers and condition monitoring technicians.
The first person who will be to conduct trainings as part of this arrangement is Mr. Puchong Putthawong who completed his Category III training back in 2012. He has 11 years worth of specialized experience in a variety of different industries such as steel, mining and palm oil. His vast experience coupled with technical proficiency will help potential trainees benefit from a well-rounded course.
This is testament to Schaeffler’s continued drive to deliver value to customers in var-ious ways. Schaeffler employees regularly attend trainings to ensure that they have the most up to date product knowledge which they can pass on to customers.
Proper training helps customers to optimize running life of machinery
Vibration Analyst Category II training covers analysis of readings and measurements, and allows one to identify potential issues and make timely adjustments. As such, it is useful for customers to undergo this training so that they will be more proactive in identifying and preventing potential breakdowns in their machinery. While breakdowns are not costly in and of themselves, the disruption they cause to a company’s produc-tion schedule may be significant in terms of lost revenue. It is crucial that customers are able to minimize downtimes and schedule timely maintenance works to avoid them.
Mr. Bert Rosenheinrich, Director of Engineering for SEA said, “It is important to us that we constantly upgrade our know-how to keep abreast of the latest trends and requirements that customers may have. In fact, we are planning to provide more train-ings in a tie-up with external training institutes to customers in the region.”
Bringing global technical excellence to the region
Schaeffler has a proactive approach when being “in the region, for the region” by ex-panding its footprint here. A new plant in Chonburi, Thailand, was inaugurated in Oc-tober this year and last year, the Bangkok office was recognized as a Schaeffler Tech-nology Center (STC). The latter ensures that the technical advice provided by the experts there is on par with the high standards of excellence that Schaeffler provides elsewhere in the world.
As an STC, it is a regional center of excellence and is part of the Global Technology Network. Customers have ready access to 1250 engineers across more than 130 sales offices and over 20 other STCs, 1000 industry and product experts, and 6000 R&D engineers. The certification is not a one-off, with regular training courses, work-shops and audits held regularly to ensure that levels are maintained throughout.
Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Helmut Bode, President Industrial AP, added, “Vibration analysis training is just one of the many condition monitoring services on offer. Our expertise in this field has led to the development of products like the FAG SmartCheck which offers numerous possibilities today that will be regarded as indispensable for machine monitoring tomorrow. This results in an optimized increase in value in all areas”
