SECO Tools has extended its EPB product line with the launch of compact EPB 610 rough boring heads that simplify the holemaking process as well as the EPB 5835 hydraulic chuck that brings strength, rigidity and high metal removal rates to rough milling applications.

Easy-to-use and set, EPB 610 rough boring heads (shown left) come in four sizes with diameters ranging from 39 mm to 115 mm. They feature a special push/pull mechanism that simplifies the diameter setting process. Highly versatile and productive, these solutions can perform symmetrical and staggered operations as well as take depths of cut up to two-thirds of the insert’s width. Furthermore, the short body of these boring heads maximises the rigidity of the boring assembly, while their lightweight design allows for fast tool changing and spindle acceleration.
Perfect for rough milling operations that require strong chip removal, the EPB 5835 hydraulic chuck (shown right) is suitable for use with tool diameters from 3 mm to 32 mm. This hydraulic chuck features a shorter body length and larger outside diameter when compared to traditional holders. Its design significantly increases rigidity and lowers tool run-out to a max of four microns in tool lengths three times O.D. Also, the EPB 5835’s transmittable torque, which is drastically higher than for conventional designs, allows for aggressive cutting data and high process security.Seco Tools (Fagersta, Sweden) is a leading global provider of metal cutting solutions for milling, turning, holemaking and toolholding.
