SECO is broadening its range of patented Steadyline damping tools with the introduction of boring bars.

The Steadyline boring bars feature a dynamic passive system inside the holder body where a damping mass counter vibrates against the first flex vibration to effectively reduce unwanted vibrations in extreme cutting conditions. This enables the product to perform typical long overhang operations twice as fast as traditional tools.
The products are also designed to reduce spindle stress and deliver high metal-removal rates, smooth part surface finishes, and long tool life. They have a single inbuilt clamping ring that draws in the boring head for a secure, stable taper-face contact. Once a boring bar is set it becomes possible to mount and remount the heads without having to reset the system.
The Steadyline is available in 6xD, 8xD, and 10xD bar sizes and a range of types, including Seco-CaptoTM C4, C5, and C6, and HSK-T. The system also features compact boring heads with a GL connection for roughing from ø36mm to 69mm, and finishing from ø34mm to 69mm. The extremely precise GL connection on the Steadyline bars requires only the use of a spanner wrench to loosen and tighten the heads as opposed to traditional systems that use several fastening screws and devices for exchanging boring heads.
Both the bars and the heads feature coolant supply channels for enhanced chip removal.
