IPACK-IMA 2015 will host an institution area for East African Community member countries to promote the 2016 event
PIGGYBACKING on a successful inaugural run last September, the second East Afripack, the trade exhibition for processing, packaging, and converting dedicated to emerging economies in sub-Saharan Africa, is scheduled to take place in 2016 at the Nairobi Kenyatta International Conference Center, Kenya.

With more than 50% of the 136 exhibitors from the first edition demanding rebooking, the show’s second run next year aims to fully develop the potential shown by the exhibition right from the launch.

Organizers Ipack-Ima Spa, together with The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies (PMMI) of the U.S. and exhibition’s partners UNIDO, EAC, and Kenya’s Ministry of Industrialization and Enterprise Development, have started preparatory work for the 2016 event.

The calendar of events starts with an initiative during IPACK-IMA 2015 at Fieramilano. The show will include an institution area to host East African Community member countries such as Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, and United Republic of Tanzania. These member countries can promote contacts and discussions between exhibitors and African institutions throughout IPACK-IMA 2015 in relation to East Afripack 2016.

In addition, the EXPO 2015 from May to October will gather together all East Africa Community countries in Milan. The activities during the six-month event are expected to catalyze the attention of qualified stakeholders, institutional representatives, and industry professionals.

A convention in Uganda will also be held to spread and strengthen the East Afripack brand across the EAC region. The forum will highlight the importance of packaging as a crucial leverage for technological upgrade and increased competitiveness of local SMEs. It will be organized in cooperation with East Afripack’s partners UNIDO, EAC, Kenya’s Ministry of Industrialization and Enterprise Development, and ICE, the Italian agency for foreign trade.
