Sephora Americas has acquired Scentsa, the interactive digital technology to enhances the in-store shopping experience, from Crescent House Publishing LLC. The deal includes Scentsa’s custom software and intellectual property rights, making the technology platform proprietary to Sephora. Sephora has had an exclusive partnership with Scentsa for the past five years. One aspect of the technolgy is the Scentsa Fragrance Finder, which Sephora introduced in its stores in 2008. It allows shoppers to easily find detailed information on the latest fragrances, available in-store, including videos and thousands of reviews.
And this year, Sephora rolled out SkincareIQ, (a screenshot is shown) leveraging the Scetsa technology platform. It allows shoppers to find the best skin care products and foundation colors for their skin type.
Scentsa will continue to be led by its current team, who will join Sephora in their San Francisco office. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
