Due to the rapid business development in Asia, Mold-Masters has opened new direct sales offices in Taiwan, and in Seoul, South Korea to better serve its clients. Mold-Masters has also restructured its organisation in South China in such a way that clients in Hong Kong are now served directly by Mold-Masters. International Plastics News for Asia (IRNA) was fortunate to speak to Mold-Masters (Kun Shan) Co. Ltd. President of Greater China Mrs. An Heid on how the company's steps to improve the overall quality and acceptability of its products.
IRNA: Please provide a brief overview on the company's operations. An: Mold-Masters manufactures and globally distributes hot runners, PET moulds and temperature controllers. Our main target markets are automotive, caps and closures, electronics, house wares, medical, packaging, personal care and telecommunications. We serve the needs of end users, moulders and mould-makers located in all five continents through the professionalism and commitment of our 1,200+ workforce. We are committed to maximising plastic injection moulding performance for our clients to enable them to lower overall costs while minimising business risk. As such we have designed and scaled our business globally to ensure the unique needs of end users, moulders and mould-makers have been identified and satisfied by building upon our history as the industries leading solutions provider. Our clients are committed to innovation and we are committed to helping them achieve their most important business objectives through innovation. For example, we continually push limits to make our hot runners more controllable, reliable, easier to use, and priced comparably to off-the-shelf systems. Our design philosophy leaves no room for compromise. We also invest in R&D each year - more than any other hot runner manufacturer. We have approximately 1,600 patents (pending and received) in hot runner technology, making up more than half in this area. Our goal is to double this so our clients can more easily achieve their goals. We have a wide range of product lines, from super accurate medical products to big automotive parts; our hot-runner system can meet customers' various requirements. Working with Mold- Masters is a true example of partnership in action. All of our products are made inside one of our global manufacturing facilities, which enable us to better control process and ultimate product quality. Many things can be outsourced successfully but we have found that given the highly sophisticated nature of the products we build keeping it in house is the best solution for our clients. Quality is never compromised at Mold-Masters. The result of this has been the development of a variety of different solutions that enable high production yields, extremely low operating costs, the industries best color change times and part quality that is unrivalled. For our clients this translates in to solutions that maximise injection moulding, lower overall operating costs and the security of knowing that business risk has been greatly minimised. IRNA: What are the steps taken by the company to improve the overall quality and acceptability of your products? An: The Mold-Masters way to guarantee quality expectations are met starts and ends with the client to ensure we have heard clearly what is required and why. Our Hot Runner Specialists are highly trained, experienced and subject to intense scrutiny before they are offered the privilege of being our "face" to the client.
