TOKYO and JOHOR, Malaysia – Showa Denko (SDK) (Tokyo:4004) opens today the new aluminum casting plant of SHOTIC Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (STM) in Johor, Malaysia.
STM, the SDK Group’s first production base outside Japan to cast aluminum, will start mass production in November. It will cater to the lively demand for fine aluminum products through quick response to car manufacturers’ and parts suppliers’ needs.

Together with a forging plant of Shotic Singapore Pte. Ltd. (STS), the group has established an integrated aluminum forging and casting system in ASEAN.
“In its medium-term business plan, PEGASUS Phase 2, SDK positions Shotic business as base and stable business,” said Hideo Ichikawa, CEO of Showa Denko. “By cultivating the Asian market and focusing on development of new products which the automotive industry expects, SDK aims to further solidify the foundation of Shotic business.”
SDK has an integrated aluminum casting and forging facility at Kitakata, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, and two aluminum forging subsidiaries outside Japan, STS in Singapore and SHOTIC Europa Industria de Aluminio, Lda. in Portugal.
With the completion of the STM’s plant, SDK strengthens its aluminum products supply system for the Asian market. At the same time, by securing casting capacity at two locations, it ensures the security of its supply chain.
