
International Metalworking News for Asia (IMNA) talked to Mr. Udomsak Sodsal, Managing Director for Siam Elmatech Co. Ltd during the Interplas show in Bangkok, Thailand. The company is an importer and agent of machineries manufactured by MATEC Maschinenbau GmbH and Cumatec Cutting Machine Technology GmbH in the mould/die and parts production industry. Siam Elmatech is part of a global network with a focus on the market in Thailand. IMNA: Please tell us something about the company. Sodsal: Established in November 20, 1995, Siam Elmatech Co. Ltd commenced its operations as an importer and agent of machineries used in mould/die and parts production industry. We provide aftersales services, such as installation, training, repair and maintenance to our customers. Siam Elmatech first started as an agent for CDM Rovella brand EDM maker from Italy. Now, we have expanded our machineries to cover all the needs in the mould/die and parts production that includes die sinker, wire cut, super drill EDM, surface grinder, milling (conventional and NC controlled), CNC machining centre, and HSC CNC machining centre from manufacturers in Europe and Taiwan. At present, Siam Elmatec is an agent for MATEC and Cu-Ma- Tec. MATEC and Cu-Ma-Tec are sister companies of Bohm AG GMBH, which is based in Germany. IMNA: Describe how your operate business. Do you sometimes manufacture products? Who are your intended markets/customers? Sodsal: Well, Siam Elmatech does not manufacture any machinery. But in our group, we do have a company that manufactures mould making machineries. Their name is SIEL Technologies Co. Ltd. We share the same building in Nonthaburi, Thailand. The building, where they produce the moulding machine, has two parts. Siam Elmatec has a show room where we sell all the products. Both Siam Elmatec and SIEL Technologies have been in the business since 1995; and within the past year we have expanded by becoming an agent for MATEC and Cu-Ma-Tec. It is a new venture for us. IMNA: Please discuss the new products launched at this show. What are the special features of these products and how are these different from those available in the market today? Sodsal: Well, actually we have two new products, but we do not have an actual machine available to show at this time. Instead, we have a video that provides the customer all the information they need. The products are the laser cutting machine and the water cutting machine. In any case, we do plan to have one machine from MATEC on display for the next Metalex Manufacturing exhibition in Bitec, which will be held this November. IMNA: Can you tell us about some of the new features that make these products different? Sodsal: The most important feature of the water cutting machine is speed - our new machines have excellent speed. With the laser cutting machine, it is all about accuracy. Both of these new machines offer improvements in speed and accuracy. The new MATEC machines also allow for customisation in order to meet the individual needs of the customer. IMNA: What is the role played by your company in these new products? Please explain. Sodsal: Our role is in the sales and aftersales service of these machines. We provide the best services in the market for the products, and we also give feedbacks to the manufacturer about any problems and other important information regarding the market in Thailand. IMNA: What are the trends in the industries you ser ve that ef fect your decision to launch the products? What recent developments impact your operations?
