SIEMENS has been recently awarded the contract for the supply of six gas and three steam turbines to power the 2 GW Rabigh 2 power plant.
Rabigh 2, will be using one of the most efficient F-class gas turbines in the world and Siemens has focused on developing this engine type specifically for the requirements of Saudi Arabia. In close cooperation with various stakeholders, this machine type will be manufactured out of the gas turbine manufacturing facility in Dammam.
Currently, students from Saudi Petroleum Services Polytechnic are being trained in various centers of competence on this technology.
Another centerpiece of the Rabigh 2 contract is a 25- year service agreement, where the maintenance services will be also provided by Siemens technology experts directly developed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The highly efficient Siemens gas turbine technology paired with custom tailored service solutions, makes Rabigh 2 one of the most technologically advanced, efficient and economic power plants, designed for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Arja Talakar, CEO Siemens Saudi Arabia, said "the engineering and the implementation of energy efficient solutions is our key focus area for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which will support the Kingdom in managing its natural resources and preserve the environment for the generations to come. Additionally, we are continuing on the path of localization of know how.
Our efforts and focus is not only to the energy sector, as Siemens is one of the few multinationals which has the capability of addressing all focus areas of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, covering energy, infrastructure and cities, healthcare and industry out of one hand."
Siemens has been active in Saudi Arabia for more than eighty years. Together with its partner E.A. Juffali & Brothers, the company has contributed to the expertise, technology, knowledge transfer and development of local talent.
