Siemens modernises Qatar's Mesaieed steelworks

Siemens VAI Metals Technologies will modernise Qatar Steel Company's steelworks in Mesaieed, Qatar. The project's objectives are to expand billet production capacity by up to 30%, while at the same time reducing specific consumption values and waste gas emissions. The modernised plant is scheduled to start production in the middle of 2012. Siemens is supplying 95 tonnes of electric arc furnace, 95 tonnes ladle furnace, five-strand continuous billet casting plant and the associated ancillary equipment for the steelworks in Mesaieed Industrial City, which is located about 50km south of Doha. A new dedusting plant is also being installed in the works, which will considerably reduce emissions from steel production. The scope of supply is rounded off by a system for charging the electric arc furnace with DRI and alloying facilities. The project is being implemented jointly by Siemens VAI Metals Technologies and Siemens W.L.L. Qatar. Siemens Qatar will be responsible for all the local services.Adidas NMD R1
