Whether for the production of data cables, automotive and building wires, insulating and sheathing lines or high voltage cables, SIKORA offers the most appropriate measuring, control, inspection, analysis and sorting devices needed for all cables and their production lines. These devices can optimize the production processes and save on materials costs, according to Mr. Holder Lieder, Sales Director of SIKORA AG, when interviewed during the Wire & Tube Southeast Asia 2017.
“Our products are perfectly adjusted according to customer requirements. SIKORA has pioneered in areas that help customers achieve precision and improve the quality of their products. We offer measuring and control technology for the production of insulating and sheathing lines, data cables, automotive cables, building wires and high voltage cables,”according to Mr. Lieder.
Mr. Holger Lieder
For the plastics industry, Mr. Lieder listed some of SIKORA’s innovations. In particular, the PURITY SCANNER from SIKORA is an impressive system that intelligently combines the advantages of an X-ray measuring system with the advantages of an optical system and detects impurities on as well as in a pellet and sorts contaminated pellets automatically. The transport technology with a vibrating stainless steel ramp is also innovative. This concept is completely wear-free and permanently maintenance free. Not only the use of X-ray technology for this application is unique, also the performance of the optical system is exceptional and exceeds previous solutions on the market. The goal is to provide a 100 % inspection of the raw material used. Especially for highest quality demands, the purity of raw material is of crucial importance, as every little contamination is a potential risk. During the inspection, the pellets are in a hermetically sealed channel. The material does not come in contact with the ambient air and consequently absolute purity is guaranteed. In production processes of compounding, the homogeneity is of significant importance. This is another application in which the PURITY SCANNER exploits its superiority, as all inhomogeneities are made visible by the X-ray technology.
For wire and tube production, Mr. Lieder also talked about the advantages of SIKORA Millimeter Wave technology for the precise measurement of diameter, ovality, wall thickness and sagging during the manufacture of large plastic tubes. ”In the production of wires and tubes, it is important to achieve precision and this can be done with SIKORA millimeter wave technology,”Mr. Lieder explained.
SIKORA, in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Research Institute for High-frequency Physics and Radar Technology (FHR) and the South German Institute for Plastics (SKZ), has developed the technology based on millimeter wave technology for non-contact, precise, online measurement of inner and outer diameter, ovality, wall thicknesses, and sagging (“sagging of the melt during solidification at a too high viscosity”) of large plastic tubes with a diameter larger than 120mm. Thanks to the innovative concept of the measuring system it adapts the characteristics of the extruded plastics and does not require any calibration by the operator. This new millimeter wave technology allows for an increase of product quality and ensures significant material and cost savings during extrusion.
SIKORA expects its Asian markets to continue its growth path. “We are very optimistic on the Asian markets and during the Wire and Tube Southeast Asia, we met all the big players here. We also introduced our new agent in Thailand and agent from Malaysia so you can see that we have confidence on this market,” Mr. Lieder added.
