SOLIDACE has recently introduced the first full-featured commercial version of its new structural data interoperability tool CIS2WORKS|Premium for SolidWorks CAD environment.
The CIS2WORKS|Premium enables simplified, fast, and intelligent import and export of AEC and plant industry accepted structural steel data exchange formats to and from SolidWorks. It works with the CIMSteel Integration Standards Rev. 2 (CIS/2) format adopted by AISC as a standard for structural steel interoperability, and the Steel Detailing Neutral Format (SDNF) that is widely maintained in a variety of plant and structural design systems for importing and exporting of steel structure. It also features direct support for the STAAD.Pro V8i structural analysis application file format.
The interoperability tool has a completely redesigned user interface. It supports SolidWorks native Weldment, allowing flexible mapping of imported member section profile names with Weldment library names. It features a separate model preview window for fast loading and preview of large models, and allows grouping of members and plates to enable identification of reusable components for lighter model creation.
The free download and test version, which does not require activation or registration, works in eXpress mode with functionality limited to 30 elements of the structure being translated. The commercial version requires activation and provides full product functionality.
The new CIS2WORKS|Premium version 1.0 will be available for download through SolidACE web site immediately.
Established in November 2008, Lithuania-based SolidACE develops computer-aided design and engineering tools for AEC and plant engineering markets. It focuses on the architectural, building, and construction engineering and plant engineering markets within a Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks environment.
