SolidACE revolutionises Asia's structural steel modeling

Source: Release Date:2010-07-01 144
Steel buildings is the new trend in today's day and age with the increasing population, expanding businesses and advanced technological processes that lead to an insatiable demand for quality, attractive and low-maintenance steel structures. Established on November 7, 2008 in Vilnius, Lithuania, SolidACE Ltd is a relatively new company focusing on the software solutions within a Dassault Syst鑝es SolidWorks environment for Architectural, Building and Construction Engineering, as well as Plant Engineering markets. In spite of being a new company, SolidACE has a long-term deep industry knowledge background: the co-founder of SolidACE, company IN RE, which is also SolidWorks reseller in Lithuania, has been creating structural steel design applications for other CAD platforms for over 10 years now. The company's flagship product for structural steel design, BuiltWorks 2010, provides a toolset for designing steel structures. It extends the SolidWorks functionality to meet the structural steel industrial standards and requirements, automating the specific industrial workflows. In April this year, SolidACE released BuiltWorks 2010 Ver. 1.1.3 update with some new features and several fixes. CEO Dr. Vladimir Popov shared with International Metalworking News for Asia (IMNA) the news about BuiltWorks 2010 and SolidACE's plans for Asian market. IMNA: Dr. Popov, please tell our readers, what's new in latest version of BuiltWorks 2010 , and what benefits it brings to your target markets in Asia? Dr. Popov: The April's release was ordinary maintenance update, which incorporated few new enhancements and several important fixes in functionality of grid representation, placement of end plates, export to DSTV NC format for CNC machinery, as well as changes in product activation procedures but the more important release is waiting in June - we are planning to announce a Beta testing program for a second major subversion v.1.2 of BuiltWorks 2010. It will be a significant milestone of BuiltWorks development, which will introduce a new concept of connection. One of innovations within this new concept is a free-plate parametric tool, which enables engineers to design with a single parametric tool a wide variety of connection details, such as end plates, single or double fin plates and angle cleats, seating plates, cleats, stiffeners, etc. Why this new concept of connection is that important? One should notice that bolts, nuts and holes are by far not the most important features of the connection, but the variety of cutting options and connection plates are. New parametric free-plate tool, in conjunction with the existing variety of BuiltWorks cutting options, will allow designing virtually any type of connections used in industry today: simple and moment connections, column bases and end-caps, beam to beam and beam to column connections, beam and column splices, standard connections and custom connections, and so forth, practically without any limitations. For Asian market the upcoming new version of BuiltWorks will be important as well, since we are planning to enhance the database of steel section profiles by adding to it the Chinese National GB Standard. It's a second step of localising BuiltWorks for this big, demanding and important market, as first step was the introduction of BuiltWorks user interface in Chinese and Japanese languages. IMNA: Early this year the company signed a reseller deal in New Delhi, how is the agreement so far? Dr. Popov: India is as much important market as China or Japan, indeed. We are proud that the very first BuiltWorks reseller agreement was signed specifically with the representative from India-company" Tech Savvy Engineers" . Having first our Reseller in North India, New Delhi area, we are looking for other partners in the region. In respect ofMax 90 Premium SE
