Source: Release Date:2010-03-29 148
SolidWorks World 2010 was held from 31 January 2010 to 3 February 2010 at the Anaheim Convention Centre in California. In this event, Dassault Systèmes SolidWork Corp.'s executive team discussed the state of DS SolidWorks and other CAD industry news. DS SolidWorks Corp.CEO Jeff Ray opened his company's annual user conference by thanking the 5,000 attendees who had registered by the morning of Day 1. After welcoming the group, Jeff introduced Bernard Charles, President and CEO of SolidWorks' parent company, Dassault Systèmes. For his part, Bernard said, "We are investing in SolidWorks for the long term," including research and development of the technology. "We will continue to expand the scope of the technology to further serve the 3D professional," he added. Jeff opened Day 2 of SolidWorks World 2010 by announcing a new level of SolidWorks user certification: the Certified SolidWorks Expert (CSWE), available immediately. Although the CSWE announcement elicited cheers from the crowd, the real thrill for Day 2 was the introduction of James Cameron, director of major motion pictures including Avatar, Terminator, and Titanic. He told the SolidWorks crowd about the development of the stereoscopic 3D digital cameras used to film Avatar, and shared behind-the-scenes looks at the movie-making process and interviews with the actors. The last day of SolidWorks World 2010 brought a preview of what's new in SolidWorks 2011, to be released later this year, as well as a rundown of the latest Top 10 list of enhancements requested by users. As the conference drew to a close, Ray took the stage for his final keynote. "We will be delivering more new technologies in the next two and a half years than we have in the last 15 years," he vowed. "But we'll do it in a way that respects the way you design." "We cannot afford to stand still at a time like this," said Ray in his closing talk. "This is no time to relax and take it easy, not time to give up and wait for this economy to turn around. We have no choice but to get more committed to delivering great technologies and support for you?we're not standing still; we're committed to continue to make a difference."Junior
