Solutia Inc. (NYSE: SOA) will feature a range of advanced Saflex? polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayers and XIR reflective film products during the 2012 China Glass exposition held in Shanghai, China, April 2-5, 2012. The company will showcase acoustic damping and heat-reducing technologies for automotive and architectural laminated glass applications, as well as structural and advanced color interlayer solutions for the architectural market during the four-day event at the company's stand, located in Hall E1, booth 1-103.

Visitors will be able to participate in a solar heat reduction demonstration, showcasing the benefits of Saflex S series advanced solar absorbing interlayers and the company's newly acquired XIR reflective films. In addition, participants will be able to "hear the difference" Saflex Q series advanced acoustic interlayers make in architectural and automotive glazing applications, as well as mix and match their own custom colors with the Vanceva color system for laminated glass.

"Global demand for Saflex interlayers continues to rise around the world, especially in China," said Tom Selm, global business director for Saflex. "China Glass 2012 is a perfect platform to showcase our new PVB products to laminators and glass fabricators supplying the rapidly growing Chinese automotive and architectural industries and the broader Asia-Pacific markets."

In addition to having a regional office in Shanghai, Solutia manufactures Saflex interlayers at its manufacturing plant located in Suzhou, China. The company has made several investments over the past five years to increase manufacturing capacity and customer service levels to the growing region. In 2011, the company announced the planned expansion of a second manufacturing line at the Suzhou facility, which is currently being commissioned for start-up.

"In 2007, the opening of our Suzhou operation marked the first entirely new Saflex plant built from the ground up in more than 20 years," said Eric Nichols, president and general manager of Solutia's Advanced Interlayers business. "Solutia continues to invest in China and is committed to our customers across the greater Asia-Pacific region. The recent expansion of our Suzhou plant is a very significant symbol of that commitment. We will continue to devote substantial resources to seizing the growth opportunities in China across our businesses."
