It supplies to both local and foreign markets. Utsuta Metal Stamping assures its clients that they are offering quality products, guaranteed delivery and reliable services.
In an interview conducted by International Metalworking News for Asia (IMNA), Marketing Manager Tony Chan talked about the company's versatility and ability to meet the most challenging demands from its customers.
IMNA: First a little history. When and how did it all begin?
Chan: Well Utsuta Metal Stamping Phils. Inc. was officially set up on January 2, 2001 under its former corporate name Yung Ming Industrial Phils. Inc. From the start we've been located at Brgy. Sto. Tomas, Binan, Laguna and the company operates under a Customs Bonded Warehouse.
IMNA: And it all began on your own initiative?
Chan: Yes, you could say that. But as you know, in business, as in anything in life, you need some good partners and we have five highly competent investors backing the operation of the company. And of course Utsuta Metal Stamping is supported by a highly skilled and well trained staff under ISO training programs. This means our clients are assured of their demand for quality products, guaranteed delivery and reliable services.
IMNA: So you do all your manufacturing right here in the Philippines?
Chan: Sure, we began manufacturing quality fabricated metal products in our 3,000-5,000-square-metre factory at Brgy Sto. Tomas, Bi?an Laguna to supply both the local and foreign market. Our products comprise Metal Stamping/Fabrication of metal parts for computer, home appliances, audio/video equipments and other electrical parts. Tooling/die fabrication for hard tool and soft tool, plating of zinc, tin, nickel and nickel over tin are also carried out on a sub-contract basis.
IMNA: So where are your customers and main markets?
Chan: They are drawn from different market segments and various sectors of the industry. Our main markets I would say are in Southeast Asia and the Middle East at the present moment of time. Our principle customers include Emerson Power, formerly known as Astec and Acbel Polytech. All in all this adds up to an annual sales volume of just below US$ 3 million with an annual export percentile of 91% to 100%.
IMNA: What factors then would you say had been pivotal to your success?
Chan: Well, since start-up we've been deeply rooted into all levels of our workforce who understand the importance of providing timely and reliable customer services in the area of engineering, quality and delivery. This work ethic has propelled the company to become one of the most competitive precision machining companies in the region with fully integrated facilities. In our vision and mission wear e committed to our valued customers with quality products and services at the most competitive pricing through total manufacturing improvements, now and in the future.
IMNA: So you are talking about a complete and integrated solution in terms of metal stamping?
Chan: Exactly, and this is obvious from the range of our services. Upon receiving an inquiry and drawings from our customers, we do the designing and fabrication of hard tooling. Obviously customisation is a keyword here because we're flexible when it comes to meeting customers' requests or modifications. We pride ourselves on our versatility and ability to meet the most challenging demands accompanied by second to none client service and communications.
