THE tin plate aerosol can called "SteeloCare" received the first place award in the Steel Innovation Prize 2015 from the German Steel Federation. Introduced in 2014, this first-ever tinplate aerosol can in monobloc design was engineered by Lanico together with technology partners ThyssenKrupp Rasselstein and Schuler.

SteeloCare features a completely monobloc look with excellent printing quality and surface feel as well as a seamless printed image. A technique developed by Lanico permits inner seaming of the can for the first time. Ideal for food as well as toiletries and cosmetics, the can is very stable, attaining 18 bar classification and with burst pressures of more than 25 bar. The tin plate can is 100% recyclable.
"In co-operation with ThyssenKrupp Rasselstein and Schuler, Lanico has engineered a complete can-making solution that permits the standardized measurement of the semi-finished parts. It's a big step forward compared to the classic three-piece aerosol can, for which every can factory currently uses its own measurements," said Michael Kaufmann, technical director at Lanico.

The award ceremony took place on 9th June at the "Berlin Steel Dialogue" event in the German capital. SteeloCare was awarded the prestigious prize in the category "Products Made of Steel".
The German Steel Federation is the political-economic association of the steel industry in Germany. Every three years, the Federation recognizes outstanding innovations in four categories by awarding the Steel Innovation Prize. A total of 578 projects applied for this year's prize. The jury explained why it chose "SteeloCare": "The product exemplified the outstanding interaction between inspiration, materials, application and development." The award was presented by the patron of the competition, Professor Dr Johanna Wanka, German Federal Minister of Education and Research.
