With double-digit growth, the Asian natural personal care market is taking firm root and blossoming.At his presentation on The Asian Natural Personal Care Market, Zachary Ferrara, senior consultant from Kline, revealed key findings and market opportunities in this market.
Mr. Ferrara defines “natural” as all brands that are positioned as natural, and then further segmenst the market into truly natural vs natural-inspired. Asia accounts for over 35% of the global natural and organic personal care maket, he said, and sales of natural cosmetics in Asia in 2013 are estimated to reach over USD 10 billion.
By country, China is leading the way with the highest increase, nearly 24% in 2013, while Japan is posting 5% sales growth. By product category, skin care dominates the Asian natural personal care market in terms of value, followed by hair care and makeup. However, in terms of growth, hair care is the best performing category with over 18% increase in 2013.
When it comes to the hot trends in personal care, Mr. Ferrara estimates that:
Natural brands will continue to change product formulations to become more truly natural;
Demand for hair care will continue to increase;
Whitening skin care and anti-aging will remain the most popular segments in skin care;
Makeup with natural ingredients will continue to grown in Asia.
