Sustainability experts to speak at SPI summit on recycling

The Re|focus conference' organized bySPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association announced that Jeannette Garcia, from IBM Almaden Research Facility, Hugo Contreras of the Nature Conservancy and Monique Oxender, chief sustainability officer at Keurig Green Mountain, Inc. will speak in separate sessions at the Re|focus Recycling Summit & Expo, on April 25-27 at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Fla.

 

The addition of IBM’s Garcia, the Nature Conservancy’s Contreras and Keurig’s Oxender further enhances the event’s objective to bring the full manufacturing supply chain together to discuss how the industry can advance recycling and sustainability goals for plastics.

 

The Re|focus conference program includes multiple tracks and represents the full supply chain, allowing for material suppliers, equipment providers, designers, plastics processors, brand owners and recyclers to better understand each other’s challenges and overcome them together, according to SPI’s President and CEO William R. Carteaux. 

 

Re|focus will feature a total of five educational tracks: Engineering (which is produced by SPE’s Sustainability Division), Supply Chain Management, Recycling Technology, Sustainability & Global Trends and Regulation & Compliance. The educational program also includes End Market-focused sessions focused on the automotive, packaging, healthcare and building and construction industries. Thought leaders from SC Johnson, Walmart and, now, IBM And Keurig will deliver keynote presentations throughout the conference.

 

SPI has also received significant support from industry partners, including the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE), American Chemistry Council (ACC), Vinyl Institute, Healthcare Plastics Recycling Council (HPRC), Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA), Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI), ANIPAC and GreenBlue.

 

In addition to its educational program, Re|focus will also offer attendees an expo floor featuring solution providers from leading recycling and sustainability companies to help attendees take their environmental goals from aspirational to operational.
