This year's edition of Taipei Plas focused on eco-friendly plastics and rubber making. The show hosted 324 domestic and 95 foreign exhibitors in 2,111 booths. Over 20,000 visitors, 2500 of which were from foreign countries, came to the show. The exhibition covered every area, including plastics and rubber processing, injection moulding, blow mould machines, extruders, print machines, moulds and dies, parts and accessories, raw materials, semi-finished and finished products. A number of renowned Taiwan-based manufacturers showed off their best products, among them, Hemingstone, Victor Taichung, Diing Kuen, Chuan Lih Fa, Multiplas, Kung Hsing, Long New, Venus Plastic, Fu Chun Shin, Jon Wai, Jenn Chong, Queen's, Jandi's, Outstanding, Chuan Lih Fa, Shang Ta Chia, Hwa Chin, Fong Kee, Jih Ching and Chia Ming. Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) organised one-to-one procurement meetings for leading buyers, each representing a company with annual revenue over $50 million. In addition, TAITRA held 20 events, seminars and product launch press conferences. One of the most striking events was the so-called 2010 Cross-Strait Plastics Industry Cooperation and Development Summit, which was attended by over 100 Taiwanese experts from the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry and 100 mainland Chinese experts from the China Plastics Processing Industry Association and China Plastic Machine Industry Association. It was the first time such big event was held during the Taipei Plas. The common sentiment -- that the global economic crisis is nearing its end and a genuine upturn is in sight in Taiwan-has created a certain level of excitement. In particular, the past three months have seen a surge in orders placed, and full production loads have required companies to rapidly hire workers, work overtime, and even cut down on the Lunar New Year holiday. Investments have been reinstalled, new projects started and the market launch of new products continued. feedback
