[Taiwan News] Taiwan Strait Industry Forum calls for transformation, cooperation

However, Taiwan has to find its own way to develop the industry and leverage on the inherent advantages while dealing with the Mainland. The conclusions drawn from this forum are going to be the guiding principles of the Taiwanese ECFA team.

As said by participants, both sides should recognize transformation, cooperation, and interaction as the critical issues for their future industrial development. Taiwan will lead the way for the cooperation due to its well-developed commercialization techniques, operation model, and global reputation. These advantages were accumulated through years of hard work and will keep Taiwanese corporations thriving in the Chinese domestic market.

However, there are many bureaucratic obstacles facing the Taiwanese companies regarding the cooperation. If they fail to take care of the bureaucratic issues, they cannot step further. Moreover, since the PRC authority is now working enthusiastically on brand management in order to develop their own international brands and fostering their industrial competence, firms from the Mainland will eventually reduce their dependency on Taiwanese firms.

Therefore, if Taiwanese companies want to survive for a longer period of time or even permanently, they will have to keep up with these tough issues during the following three years, as the Mainland companies are now dealing with these issues zealously.
