Laudable effort by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture , Forestry and Fisheries to promote traditional cuisines in the UAE TRADITIONAL Japanese culinary delights at the recent Gulfood 2010 were promoted by the Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to promote its food and culinary innovations in the UAE and GCC region. Gulfood 2010, the region's largest and most diverse exhibition for the food service and hospitality sector, paved way for Japanese exhibitors who unveiled an extensive range of local food products sourced from numerous regions of the country. "Japanese food exports to UAE are growing consistently year after year. Through Gulfood, we plan to introduce innovative & nutritional Japanese products since UAE is a very important strategic market for us," said Mr Hiroshi Inoue of Kintetsu World Express, which organised the Japan Pavilion on behalf of the industry. In 2009, Japanese agricultural and marine exports to UAE grew 129% vis-?vis 2008, reaching a whopping 4.1 billion yen. The Japanese pavilion at the Gulfood 2010 event showcased 14 companies that showcased agricultural, forest and marine products covering authentically Japanese-made seafood, beverage, seasonings, confectioneries, meat, vegetables, fruits and fine foods. The selection ranged from authentic "Wagyu" (Japanese beef), gourmet seafood, special salt, miso, sweet fruits & nutrient-rich vegetables, the Japanese pavilion featured a rich assortment of healthy and quality food products - all halal-certified and manufactured with indigenous Japanese additives.
