TATA Coffee Limited, India's largest integrated coffee producer has inaugurated a premium coffee extraction plant at its Instant Coffee manufacturing facility in Theni, Tamil Nadu state in south India. The new extraction plant will help the company position its freeze dried coffee product at premium levels and increase its overall capacity by 30%, Tata Coffee said.
Freeze dried coffee retains aroma better and gives excellent flavor, colour and appearance to the coffee. The state-of-art technology installed will enable the plant to produce and export premium coffee to consumers across the globe.
Tata Coffee’s Instant Coffee Division Is strategically located 170 kms from Tuticorin port, a 100% EOU (Export Oriented Unit) facility with an installed capacity of 4000 tons per annum. The plant produces and exports spray dried, agglomerated and freeze dried instant coffee. The new extraction plant will add 2000 tonnes to the existing capacity.
In addition to a state-of-the-art extraction unit, the Theni plant has sophisticated equipment, best in class safety systems and an efficient utilities section. The facility is certified by ISO 9000, ISO 22000, HALAL, and SA 8000.
Tata Coffee has always been committed to serving the communities where it operates. In this spirit, the Company is actively engaging with the local community in Jayamangalam village located near the Theni plant. Initiatives like ‘Self-Help Group’ and ‘Girl Child Nutrition’ Projects are aimed at enabling a better quality of life for women and girl children.
