Teknor Apex appoints new Business Development Manager for Asia Pacific

Working with the TPE business manager at Singapore-based Teknor Apex Asia-Pacific Pte Ltd., Dr. Gao will manage new business development programs in China and elsewhere in the region that require close liaison with OEMs or brand owners in the U.S.

“Hang Gao’s outstanding 20-year career in plastics and chemicals includes experience in polymer research and development, application development, marketing, and sales,” said Mr. Sakhalkar. “His multifaceted understanding of plastics will enable him to provide valuable support for the international operations of our OEM customers.”      

Dr. Gao comes to Teknor Apex from SABIC Innovative Plastics, where his latest position was that of sales development leader for the U.S. Northeast. He joined the company as a product technologist in 1996 when it was the plastics division of General Electric. Subsequently he led a team that developed new materials, design techniques, and improved processes; built and led cross-functional teams in two Six Sigma Black Belt projects; and served as a product marketing manager. Prior to his 16 years with SABIC / GE, he held a senior sales and technical representative position for Bayer AG in China, specializing in engineering plastics.

Dr. Gao also held research and teaching positions in plastics with the University of South Florida (Tampa), where he obtained his Masters and Ph.D. degrees in physical chemistry. He holds a Bachelors degree in materials science and engineering from East China University of Chemical Technology (Shanghai). He is the author of numerous papers in the field of polymer science.
