Tessenderlo invests in second gelatine factory in China

BELGIUM'S Tessenderlo Group is building a second gelatine manufacturing facility in Heilongjiang in northeast China. The plant, which will employ more than 200 people, is expected to be operational by mid-2011 and will mainly produce gelatine for pharmaceutical applications. The facility will be part of PB Gelatins China, the joint venture in which Tessenderlo holds 86% and the Yang family 14% of the shares. "This investment makes it possible for us to strengthen our position as the world's third-largest gelatine supplier, and to increase our global presence in the most important gelatine markets," said Tessenderlo CEO Frank Coenen.
