The packaging and processing company takes part in Paris Pledge for Action, an invitation from the COP21 French Presidency to help solve climate change

Tetra Pak joins the Paris Pledge for Action, an initiative of the COP21 French Presidency to help reduce emissions and limit climate change to below 2 degrees. The company is a strong supporter of sustainability and is active in seeking ways to reduce its environmental impact.

Dennis Jönsson, CEO, Tetra Pak, said: “Seeing so many business organizations, like our own, sign this pledge is a tremendous step forward in helping to address this very real and increasingly critical issue. But, of course, signatures alone are not enough. What matters now is that each company takes the actions they have pledged to take, and aligns their entire organizations behind the need to do things differently.”

In 2011, the company set a goal to cap carbon emissions. Based on data validated for 2014, the company achieved 16% reduction in CO2e emissions across all parts of its value chain down from the 2010 baseline. This, even as the company’s production grew 14% increase over the same time period.

At COP 21 that took place in Paris a week ago, governments under the UN adopted the Paris Agreement, which is the first universal, legally binding climate change deal. This agreement aims to inspire transformation of global growth and development and open the door to a low-carbon, stable, sustainable future, according to the French Presidency of COP21.
