Thai Union names director of sustainable development

PROCESSOR and exporter of canned and frozen seafood products Thai Union Group has appointed Dr Darian May McBain as group director of sustainable development effective 6 July 2015. Her designation is in line with the company's expanding business worldwide.

Before joining the company, Dr McBain was co-director of a business sustainability consultancy. She brings to the Group a rich experience in strategic planning, implementation of sustainable development projects and corporate communications, and a wide network in the private sector and non-profit organizations.

Dr McBain used to be an academic advisor to graduate students in Sustainability at the University of Sydney, and has co-authored academic papers and books on sustainable supply chain analysis.

She finished her Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Sydney; Master of Science in Business Strategy, Politics and Environment (with Distinction) from the University of London and Bachelor of Engineering, Environmental (with Honors) from the University of New South Wales.

Dr McBain will report directly to Thai Union’s global president & CEO, Mr Thiraphong Chansiri.
