TIMTOS 2015: Press conference focuses on Taiwan industry

The whole event aims to introduce the innovative and robust Taiwan machine tool industry.  

 

During the press conference, many journalists expressed their concerns on both the show and the industry. Regarding the China-Korea FTA issue which seems to be the most talked-about topics these days, officials admitted that the China-Korea FTA is a possible threat to Taiwan industry, but not an absolute threat since many Taiwanese machine tool and unit component manufacturers still win orders by providing machines with distinctive functions and features to the international buyers. In the past, there are successful instances when famous Chinese machine tool makers came to Taiwan to collaborate with Taiwanese horizontal manufacturers due to their unique technology. 

 

Taiwan machine tool makers are surrounded by ample domestic research resources such as PMC, ITRI, MIRDC, and CSD. These useful sources can help makers to upgrade their equipment and technology and expand their international business, which is far more essential than depreciation and FTAs.
