And deliver unprecedented machine tool equipment to existing and future customers. Here are excerpts from the meeting:
“Taiwanese machine tool suppliers have taken one solid step at a time in pursuit of precision, speed and sophistication. The R&D is a long and tough road and the focus on one single technology might not produce outstanding results in the beginning. However years of experience, knowledge and hard work are now coming to fruition and will push the industry forward,” said Mr. John Hsu, Chairman of Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI).
“To assist Taiwan machinery manufacturers in developing emerging markets, TAITRA has also organized the EMMA Expo India annually since 2007 to help companies in the machinery, moulding and other industries to explore the Indian market. This July, we will hold the EMMA Fair Myanmar 2013 in Yangon, Myanmar. TAITRA will continue over never ceasing endeavour to assist Taiwanese companies to explore business opportunities around the world and to promote high-quality machinery products in the global market,” said Mr. Yih Jyh Kang, Executive Director of Exhibition Department, TAITRA
Mr. Alan Lu, Chairman of Machine Tool Committee, TAMI commented “To send out globally, the machine tool industry has to work together with the government. The most important thing for our industry is to develop high-end products, such as multi-tasking machines and 5-axis machining centres and to acquire technologies for controllers and key component software. This is how we can compete in the global market by presenting products with our own characteristics and by satisfying the needs of customization. The government should also strongly support the development of Taiwan’s machine tool industry by accelerating FTA negotiations and applying foreign exchange policies with greater flexibility, so that we can avoid putting ourselves in a disadvantageous position when facing our main competitors in South Korea and Japan.
“Our expectation for TIMTOS 2013 is to showcase, to exchange and to explore international markets. Taiwan’s machine parts and component industry has made considerable progress since 2010, and its export value is right after that of typical machine tools. By participating at international trade shows and exploring markets in Japan, Germany and the USA and other developed countries, we have gradually build up our visibility in the global markets especially for key components. Examples include ball screws and linear guideways for linear motion components, bearings and gears for rotating components, computer numerical controllers, hydraulic components such as telescopic covers and chip conveyors. Taiwan’s key machine parts and accessories industry is not only capable of satisfying domestic demand, but has also become one of the more important suppliers after Japan and Germany,” stated Mr. King Wang, Chairman of Machine Parts & Elements Committee, TAMI.
