
Globalized, dynamic and innovative: these are what visitors can expect as the 4th Thai International Plastics and Rubber Exhibition (TIPREX) opens its doors today at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC). TIPREX has become one of the most significant specialist trade fairs for professionals and industry experts looking for up-to-date showcase and emerging trends and technological developments in plastics and rubber.
The opening ceremony was headed by Mr. Gernot Ringling, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf Asia, Mr. Pichai Chookewong, President of Thai Plastics Industries Association, Mr. Pongsak Urajanamon, Vice Chairman of the Plastics Industry Club, the Federation of Thai Industries, and other special guests and members of various organizations. Mr. Witoon Simachokedee, Permanent Secretary of the Department of Industrial Promotion of the Ministry of Industry, was guest of honor.
TIPREX 2013 is the largest edition since the inception of the trade fair with a 25 percent increase in director exhibitor participation. Over 250 exhibiting companies from 21 countries including eight national pavilions and country groups from Austria, China, Germany, Italy, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand are present on the trade floor. Eighty percent of the exhibitors came from across the globe while the remaining 20 percent are from within Thailand.
On exhibit is a comprehensive range of machinery and equipment, processing solutions and services intended to attract 10,000 visitors from the plastics and rubber industry. Leading brands such as Arburg GmbH & Co., ASB (Thailand), Buss Asia pacific, NGR Recycling Maschinen, PTT Global Chemicals, SCG Chemicals, and many other big players are present.
The plastics and rubber products industry is one of Thailand’s key secondary sectors in manufacturing, contributing about 2.5 percent of the country’s GDP. In his speech, Mr. Simachokodee said: “TIPREX 2013 represents a landmark trade fair for Thailand as it becomes increasingly recognized as the country’s leading business platform for the region’s plastic and rubber sectors.”
Mr. Urajananon stressed the important position of Thailand’s plastic and rubber production with TIPREX being the conducive networking platform for exhibitors, visitors and industry experts helping the industry move forward alongside ASEAN’s economic integration with the AEC in 2015.
