Tomra names sales director for China

Tomra Sorting Food, provider of sensor-based sorting and processing systems for the fresh and processed food industries, has chosen Steven Van Geel to handle its sales in China.

Since 2006, Mr Van Geel worked as sales manager for tobacco in BEST Sorting, which Tomra acquired in 2012. He will maintain his role as sales manager for tobacco in the Asia-Pacific region and market unit manager for tobacco, and at the same time oversee sales and customer activities in China. His responsibility includes service, development, tests and demonstrations in China and development of the company’s presence in the country.

Mr Van Geel will relocate from Tomra’s global headquarters in Leuven, Belgium to its China headquarters in Xiamen, Fujian. In recent months, Tomra has invested substantially in the Xiamen facilities, producing upgraded offices, stores, service, and test and demonstration space.

In addition, the company is setting up multiple service hubs in territories throughout China, where it has significant customer bases.
