Tomra will present its Halo, Genius and Primus Gemini sorters for fresh produce

United Fresh 2014 brings together the retail and fresh produce industries, showcasing new tools and technologies in food safety, packaging and distribution for the fresh supply chain. The event takes place at the McCormick Place Convention Centre in Chicago, Illinois, 10 – 12 June 2014.  TOMRA will have representatives on hand to meet at Booth 449.

TOMRA Sorting, ODENBERG & BEST, designs and supplies innovative world-class sorting, peeling and process analytics solutions for a wide range of fresh and processed food applications. Unique sensor based sorting solutions and use of multi-spectral technologies allows the company to create options for every customer.

The Halo from TOMRA

The company will be showcasing the Halo which features both VIS and NIR capabilities and provides high performance sorting and grading, based on factors such as: defects, color, subtle blemishes, foreign material, size and shape.  For cut fruit, the Halo sorter can now separate apple wedges displaying bruise, core, stem, discoloration and broken pieces.   Fresh pack applications include: russet potato, sweet potato, varietal and specialty potatoes in addition to carrots, parsnips, cucumbers, onions, radishes and tomatoes. Halo is also ideal for processed peeled and unpeel fruits and vegetables, carrots, apricots and peaches, pear halves and citrus fruits.

The Genius from TOMRA

The Genius is equipped with high resolution cameras and lasers. It has different inspection technologies in its various zones, with state-of-the-art air guns rejecting unwanted items within milliseconds, in two or three separate streams, and sound product proceeding in the processing line.

Primus Gemini from TOMRA

The Primus Gemini sorts multiple fruit applications with defects such as discolorations, over ripe, hail and insect damage, plus foreign material. It delivers a high quality end product, meets modern consumer demands, and provides a very fast return on investment. The Primus Gemini sorter is now available with the Advanced Shrivelled Detector (ASD). The ASD laser allows TOMRA’s sorters to remove shrivelled berries for fresh pack. Compared to other optical technologies, it can detect up to 90 per cent of shrivelled blueberries and will also improve the detection of rain-split.”

TOMRA says the Primus Gemini with ASD will decrease operational costs and increase product quality. It offers one sorting solution for detecting soft and discolored berries and provides a three-way sort.
