Through its business segment Trelleborg Offshore & Construction, Trelleborg has acquired Marimatech A/S, a company offering marine positioning and piloting systems primarily in the area of software used for docking or mooring ships offshore or in ports. The acquisition aims to expand Trelleborg’s berthing, docking and mooring solutions for ports and vessels.
Marimatech has its head office and production site in Aarhus, Denmark. The company’s global sales amounted to about SEK 50 million in 2014.
Fredrik Meuller, President of the Trelleborg Offshore & Construction business area, said that Marimatech has a successful navigation and ship positioning product line using the latest 'smart' technology, which can be used on other marine applications and integrated with Trelleborg existing range of products. He added that the market prospects for marine systems are favorable, particularly as increasing vessel sizes and new requirements drive the need for a smarter approach to port and terminal efficiency.
The transaction is expected to be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2015.
Trelleborg offers engineered polymer solutions that seal, damp and protect critical applications in demanding environments. The Group comprises five business areas: Trelleborg Coated Systems, Trelleborg Industrial Solutions, Trelleborg Offshore & Construction, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions and Trelleborg Wheel Systems.
